Unanimous National Player of the Year, Sabrina Ionescu of Oregon has been selected No. 1 overall by the New York Liberty during Friday night's WNBA draft.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the WNBA held its draft virtually, which aired on ESPN network.

In her final season at Oregon, Ionescu averaged 17.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and an NCAA-leading 9.1 assists. She holds the NCAA record for career triple-doubles and is the only NCAA woman or man to reach 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists.

After the draft, Ionescu also revealed that she has signed an endorsement deal with Nike. The brand sent out a congratulatory tweet, that said. "You built a program. You broke records. You won awards. You still have unfinished business."

Shortly after being selected No. 1 overall, Ionescu's No.1 WNBA Draft Pick jersey also sold out.

"I just think being a part of a younger team and just trying to learn from them and seeing where I fit in, what role I’m gonna play is exciting," Ionescu said, adding "I'm just excited to get there and start working with the team and hopefully just continue to use my platform and what I did at Oregon and bring that in to the Liberty."
